Build Community Gathering Space
The gap is real and city leaders have acknowledged it directly. When Mayor Concannon took office in 2024, one of his central findings was that City Hall simply does not have the space or hours for group meetings and one-on-one conversations with stakeholders. The response — a 1,700-square-foot office suite in Cummings Park donated temporarily by a private landlord — underscores just how little purpose-built civic gathering space the city actually has.
The Community Resource Center is explicitly described as a "pilot program," dependent on a donated space that was not designed for community use. The Wyman Castle and school property, at 35,000 square feet on 3.5 acres, would offer something no temporary office suite can: a permanent, accessible, centrally located home for community life.
