Access to Arts and Culture
Woburn has cultural ambitions that currently have nowhere to land. The Woburn Cultural Council funds community cultural projects and explicitly prioritizes programs that benefit the greatest number of people across all ages, yet the city has no dedicated arts facility in which those programs can be housed or grown.
The Castle Arts and Community Center advocates cited state data estimating the annual economic output of Massachusetts' arts and culture sector at $29 billion, arguing the project could reap financial benefits that ripple well beyond Central Square. A dedicated arts center would give Woburn's Cultural Council and local artists a stable, permanent platform — something grant-funded pop-up programming cannot provide.
